![]() I also haven't had a problem with RealPlayer hogging anything in OSX or OS9 for that matter. I will second much of what has been said. Thanks for any help/comments you can give me. Sure enough, it 'took over' as the meida player, and the firewall keeps telling me it has blocked Real Player from trying to access the web. I'm using a borrowed Windows Me system at present, so downloaded Real Player to see what would happen. ![]() My question is: is there an alternative to downloading Real Player when I need to play Real Player files if not, does anyone have any advice on the best way to install Real Player (so it won't try and 'take over' and become the self-appointed media player in my Apple system). As far as I can tell, there is no Apple equivalent to this. Under Windows, I ran a programme called 'Real Alternative' which played the Real Player files but meant I didn't have to download Real Player itself. That said, I like to listen to BBC radio online, and the 'listen again' facility, and the BBC Radio Player uses Real Player files. In Windows land, many are wary of Real Player as it has a tendancy to try and 'take over' by hogging file associations and going online whenever it can. I'm considering a switch from Windows to Mac, and I'd appreciate some comments/advice on the question of using Real Player in OS X.
